
NJ Health Connect iPad Lending Program Policy
The Belleville Public Library is pleased to loan free iPads to Belleville township resident card holders.
Eligibility and Loan Period
- The Belleville Public Library lends iPads to resident card holders ages eighteen (18) and older with library cards in good standing.
- iPads are available on a first-come, first-served basis and the loan limit is one (1) iPad per household at any given time.
- Borrowers must fill out and sign a user agreement form and show photo I.D. A valid credit card is also required.
- The lending period is fourteen (14) days and the iPad cannot be renewed or reserved.
- A returned iPad must remain in the library for seven (7) days before the same individual or a household member may check it out again.
Terms and Conditions
- To borrow an iPad, a patron must present their library card, photo ID and credit card to the circulation staff and complete a loan agreement form.
- Once an iPad is checked out to a patron, it becomes the responsibility of that patron. Any changes in condition or content while in the patron’s care will be the patron’s responsibility. The patron is responsible for damage, loss, or theft.
- If any technical problems are encountered, patrons should return the device immediately to the Circulation Staff.
- The iPad is fragile and must be returned in person to the circulation desk and may not be returned in the book drop.
- An overdue fee of $5.00 per day up to the full replacement cost of $600.00 will be charged for an iPad that is not returned.
- The Library holder will be fined and blocked if the iPad is not returned on the due date.
- The Library reserves the right to refuse service to patrons who abuse equipment or are repeatedly late in returning library materials.
Internet, Device, and Information Use / Misuse
- The Library is not responsible for any liability, damages or expense resulting from use or misuse of the iPad.
- The Belleville Public Library is not responsible for any information a user accesses or encounters using an iPad or any actions a user takes online.
- The iPads are Library property.
- Illegal activities on the Internet are prohibited.
- Using the iPad to access any online content determined to be illegal or obscene according to federal, state or municipal law will result in the revocation of iPad borrowing privileges and potentially criminal prosecution.
- The user will not alter or tamper with the iPad (hardware or software), or attempt to open, repair or modify the iPad in any way.
Privacy Terms
- Borrower usage is not tracked by the library or the internet service provider.
- The library does not provide patron information to the service provider.
- The data the library will collect regarding the hotspots are the following:
- Total amount of data transmitted and received by each device during a billing cycle
- Anonymous circulation data related to the number of checkouts of each device
- The library and internet service do not track or monitor the websites that a user visits or the information that a user enters and/or submits online. (ex.: usernames, passwords, credit card information, etc.)
