Join the Belleville Public Library Anime and Manga Club to share your interest in anime, manga, and Japanese pop culture.
Participants watch, discuss, and explore stories, characters, and artistic styles in a welcoming group setting.
Discussion and Activities
- Share favorite anime and manga series
- Compare heroes, villains, creators, and storylines
- Discuss titles such as Tokyo Ghoul, Attack on Titan, the Naruto lineage, Princess Nine, and others
- Participate in group discussions, quizzes, and challenges
- Exchange cosplay ideas and resources
Creative Projects
- Animation cell painting and basics of traditional animation
- Design original manga characters and stories
- Hands-on crafts and themed activities
Anime and Manga History
- Explore the history of anime and manga
- Learn about influential creators such as Hayao Miyazaki, Osamu Tezuka and Masumane Shirow

Anime and manga are broad art forms with a wide range of themes, styles, and audiences. Content can vary from educational and age-appropriate stories to material intended for older teens or adults. The Belleville Public Library’s Anime and Manga Club is moderated and focused on age-appropriate discussion and activities.
Parents and guardians are encouraged to become familiar with anime and manga genres before granting permission for participation. Cultural context, storytelling styles, and themes may differ from Western media.
